‘There’s no place I’d rather be’

BRISTOL – Bryon Schiffres was born on a Sunday very much like the one that just passed; in early spring sunshine.
“March 26, a day just like this,” Linda Weidemier, his mother, remembered.
At two-and-a-half years old, Bryon was diagnosed with a slow-growing brain tumor. Now age 17, he’s in a wheelchair, can’t speak and needs aroundthe-clock care.
“He’s so full of joy; it makes everything else easier,” said Weidemier, who hosted a birthday party for her son inside their church, Bristol’s First Congregational, Sunday.
There was live music, lots of pizza and a giant birthday cake everyone raved about.
And there was Bryon, all smiles.
“His birthday is his favorite day,” said Donna Schiffres, his grandmother.
